At St. John’s “Community Care” refers to the practical care that is provided through St. John’s both to members and friends of our congregation and persons in the wider community in the name of Christ.

Visitation and Counselling

  • Hospital and Nursing Home visits are made by a team of dedicated volunteers and staff to the elderly, sick, hospitalised and alone/lonely members.

  • Holy Communion visits are made to persons who are no longer able to attend worship services, including the homebound, residents of nursing homes and retirement facilities, and others who are hospitalised or in recuperation.

  • Basic Counselling Services are available for people experiencing grief, loss or relationship issues.

Prayer Shawl  Ministry

Ladies of St. John’s knit or crochet shawls (150cms x 50cms) which are gifted along with a suitable ‘Prayer Card’ to people that are sick, hospitalised, terminally ill, elderly, grieving, lonely etc.  Shawls are often presented to their carers or spouses too, as they also have special needs when caring for loved ones. These Prayer Shawls are also gifted to folk in need in the wider community and to family or friends interstate or overseas. They are made with love and devotion, always received with joy and gratitude, and are a wonderful witness for the creators and the recipients.
